When a loved one passes away it is most important that funeral arrangements are attended to and the appropriate period of grieving occurs. When the time is right, the executor or personal representative of the deceased should contact a solicitor regarding administering the person’s estate. There are situations where the deceased has left a will clearly setting out how they wish their estate to be divided (who gets what). There are other situations where the deceased has left no will and the personal representatives and the solicitor work together to think about and discuss the path forward for how the estate will be dealt with.
